Text:
Installed in a project space with black out walls under a spot light. The work gives the impression of being both adrift in a void, and yet centered through its geometric construction. During it's first showing, the public wrote on paper, messages, prayers and critiques, and placed them in the sculpture's crevices. These papers went on to further inform the project.
An animalistic figure carved into dusty concrete. The figure was made in an effort to depict a non specific theist manifestation of a being. A non humanoid form was chosen in attempt to display a primordial like power.
Through process of it's build, the chippings of the counter relief exposed the symbolic figure's material physical presence.
The pictorial image, that of an imagined being, none the less remains present in it's physical absence.
The attempt knowingly fails as it cannot embody through corporeality that which is conceived as a transcendental concept.
Accompanying, at ground level a series of flickering digitally altered video loops.
